The Institute of Technology University of Moratuwa (ITUM), research symposium was launched in the year 2013 with the intention of enhancing the ITUM research culture, and since then has become an annual event in the ITUM event Calendar. Since its inception, the successive appointed ITUM research committees successfully organized and hosted six research symposiums till the year 2019 providing an opportunity for ITUM staff to document and discuss the multifaceted and subject-related research projects carried out by them.
In the year 2019, a limited number of spaces in the research symposium was opened to researchers from the industry, with the objective of giving them the opportunity to share their professional experiences in industry-related research with the ITUM staff.
The establishment of a Research Unit (ITUM-RU) at ITUM in 2020 made it possible to expand ITUM research limits to a new level. As a result, in 2021, the ITUM Research Unit opened the ITUM research symposium for other Higher Educational Institutes, Universities, and the Industry in Sri Lanka. However, in 2021 considering the pandemic situation in the country, the symposium was conducted virtually.
In 2022, the ITUM Research Unit intends to open the ITUM research symposium to international researchers as well by giving them an opportunity to connect with us and share their research experiences in various technology-related areas. We believe that this would open up opportunities for collaborative researches. With this initiation, this year, the ITUM-RU decided to rename the symposium “International Research Conference of ITUM 2022”.
A conference extended abstract book with the ISSN number will be published (Volume 9 -ISSN: 2773-7055).
